I've been encouraged by my fellow Express riders to share a picture I have with this board. The story first: I recently took myself out of my comfort zone and went off a-traveling. To Italy I went, adventuring in a nation where I don't speak the language, and I would be alone for the first day and a half. The first stop was Milan, and I will admit to having Apolo related thoughts about what I may encounter. (Would there be anything left over from worlds?) So, after settling in at the hotel, I went to the city center and just started wandering around. When I saw the subject of this picture, I knew only a limited number of people in this world would recognize it's significance... For those who don't recognize them, this is why I started laughing and just HAD to take a picture. One of those moments of recognition... And, just to give a little perspective about where this store was: edit: Thanks to Onion and Ang for the premiere pics!

Awesome Lurker! I'm headed to Italy and I'll have to watch for that store. I'll probably only be able to browse. I need to get something off of my chest though - I'm not a fan of those shoes. They remind me of his skate boots and perhaps that's the intent and why he likes them so much. That said, they are Prada and he does have amazing taste so perhaps it says more about me that I don't like them. Thanks for sharing your pics and your story. I loved it!

Nice to see your pics, Lurker. I had no idea those were Prada! GO Apolo! (even though I don't like the shoes, but it is just like Apolo to take a risk!) Thanks for sharing!

Your welcome! When I went back to the store 2 days later, the shoes were gone - the whole window display had changed... The air is very expensive in that store. I went in to browse, but left rather quickly, because I was about to burst out laughing at the absurdly high (to me) prices of everything... Where will you going and how long do you have to be over there??? I had an amazing time, short tho it was (only 8 days...)

My sister lives in Dublin, Ireland and so I'm heading there for a week and then spending about 9 days in Italy......Tuscany and Rome, for sure, and quite possibly Milan. I, too, am concerned about the exorbitant prices of everything, but I figure I only live once. I might splurge, but I don't even have any context as to what that means there. It may well be beyond my means! LOL

Wow - it's amazing that you found Apolo's multi-color shoes right there in Milan! Maybe he indulged in one of his favorite hobbies - shopping! Which is a bit surprising since he had to fit in practicing with Julianne along with competing that week. Oh well, maybe he didn't do much shopping - those shoes just sort of jump out at you, esp. if you've spent as much of your life as Apolo has designing splashy skate-boots.
Did you happen to notice the price tag on the shoes? I bet they cost a pretty penny!

lurker...just by the title of this thread i knew what pair you were talking about about fashion, you can't be caught wearing the same thing more than once. apolo is going to have to learn to wear/purchase more classic designer suits, sportscoats and accessories...mix the look up with different shirts and ties. that black textured sportcoat (POC) has been worn more than once and his lv belt too. my girlfrends and i go window shopping to rodeo drive when we want a good laugh...the air there is expensive too

But I don't regret it at all!!! We limited ourselves to one horse-drawn buggy ride...

The keychains were like 12 euros, so were talking about $18. For a keychain! Afraid to approach the shoes...

Lurker--that's so awesome that you found his shoes right there! Amazing. I have mixed feelings on the shoes, but I love the fact that he's not afraid to try something daring!! Elsa, I was thinking along the same lines as you--those shoes just jump right out at you. Perhaps Apolo walked by while they were in the display, pointed at them, and said "Me likey!" Just kidding. But, maybe he is an impulsive buyer for things like that. It just may be something Apolo and I have in common--I'm not an impulse buyer for many things, but shoes--can't handle it. If I like it, if the price is somewhat right--they're mine. Hehe.

Your welcome! When I went back to the store 2 days later, the shoes were gone - the whole window display had changed... oooh, kinda freaky! It reminds me of those stories where someone goes to a town and meets people and everything's bustling, then they go like the next day and it is ghost town. Good thing you took photos! Those shoes remind me of his skate boots, too. The white looks so much like the ice to me.

Would those be the shoes he was wearing Saturday night??? (See Maria Garcia's video). The emcee commented on his shoes as he was leaving after his speech. They, like, glowed...verrrrry classy.
