My sister and mother were born in Des Moines. I really miss the midwest, we're living in AZ now. Everybody in the midwest just seem nicer! Lol, I was thinking that too. What could people POSSIBLY say bad about him? He's too nice? His hair is too luxurious? That pic in Cosmo was just too d**n sexy? Where's the beef!? Edit: Oops, I didn't know I couldn't use that word. Just pretend like it's 'darn.'

Hey, I have family in Iowa! Are there really people that post hate mail about Apolo, Rose? Haha, answering the question for Rose... (i'm not sure if I've posted this here before)... The hate posts were angry Koreans upset over Apolo's gold medal in the 2002 Olympics. I'm sure some of you remember how Kim Dong-Sung was disqualified for impeding Apolo and how Apolo was consequently awarded the gold medal. That inspired a lot of hate posts about how Apolo cheated and how he wasn't a good skater and how much he was hated. A lot of the posts came across in strange characters... But I literally got thousands of those kinds of posts. Not much room for fans to post, eh? So I just shut the board down. I still got a lot of posts in my guestbook on the site but I was able to delete most of those... Anyways... that's the story of the hate posts. And believe me, they had plenty to say, but it was all untrue! I'm sure other Apolo sites had the same problems....

That is really sad that he was so hated for that, Lindsey. As you say, it is all untrue and Apolo proved it this Olympics by winning a gold medal outright. That is too bad that it got so bad you had to shut down the board! Glad nothing like that happened this time.

Yeah, they probably are.
That's another thing, when Apolo got bronze in the 1000 behind two koreans (Which he could have said something about, given the whole teamskating thing. I'm not saying they did teamskate, but he could have said something, which would have made their win seem suspicious. You know I mean? Like, he could've cast doubt on their win, meritted or not.) he just threw up his hands and made that "oh well!" face. He's very gracious about losing. Which, the koreans, were not in 2002.

I heard alot about that in the 1000 meter too. Alot of people also speculated when the one Korean fell and was disqualified, and the main one, Ahn, had a tough time getting to the front pack in the 500, it was speculated that they were working as a pair to box in Apolo every chance they got. Many reporters tried to get Apolo to say that, but he wouldn't pl;ay that blame game, and good for him, these games are enough without all the ridiculous controversey!

Thanks Ruffian! I'm glad to see good ole Sunday Silence showed up.
Your avatar is so cool too. Animation! Too bad I can't figure out how to do that!
Also, just for fun sake, if Apolo and Ruffian were in their own match race, who would win? This would be a funny debate indeed!

Yeah, Ruffian was fast! And very competitive. In the end, it was that extreme competitiveness that was the death of her. I bet if she hadn't broke down in that race, she would've kicked FP's a$$, no doubt!

Hi everyone, I'm Bella from sunny California! This is the first forum I have ever joined and I'm really enjoying reading all the posts and checking out the clever graphics. I remember watching Apolo in the 2002 Olympics but became a true fan during the Torino games. He inspires me with his dedication, drive and the sheer power of his will to overcome the limitations of the physical body and excel at something which brings him joy. That, to me, is what living life is all about.

uh, I have seen like 3 or four Apolo myspaces, but I highly doubt it that they are the real McCoy. They don't even use original photos, they take the ones already on the net, and I find that kind of lame and lazy. If Apolo was to do his own myspace, he'd want it to be as authentic as he is!
